KTP project engineer joins Rollem in Design Engineer role

Following completion of his Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Sheffield Hallam University, Sherif Ibrahim has joined Rollem in a Systems Design Engineer role.

Sherif who is an Electrical Engineer with a MEng degree from Imperial College, London and over 4 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.

Sherif will continue the KTP research and development project work looking at potential new print finishing markets and developing new technologies to broaden capabilities.

Stuart Murphy, Managing Director said “This is an exciting time for Rollem as we are working on new products and applications to take Rollem into the next generation of print finishing equipment.”

Rollem invests in 3D printing technology

Rollem have invested in two Makerbot 3D printers, the company has been using 3D printing technology for some time but the new printers have increased capacity and the range of uses.

The Makerbot Replicator+ and Makerbot Replicator Z18 are already making components for Rollem’s print finishing systems a number of which were previously made from metal and sourced externally.

Stuart Murphy, Managing Director said “3D printing of components in house will mean we reduce the costs and time of developing and manufacturing parts for trial as part of our research and development programmes.”
