Engineering firm supports new STEM focussed Chapeltown Academy

Stuart Murphy, Managing Director at Rollem has joined the Board of Governors at the new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths)  focussed Chapeltown Academy.

For Chapeltown Academy it’s been an excellent end to the first two years, a new 16-19 free school serving north Sheffield. With a dazzling pass rate at A Level of 99.1% (which is above the national average of 98.1%), we have many Year 13 students who are destined for a variety of excellent universities, including Kings College London, Cardiff, York, Leeds, Warwick, Swansea and Sheffield. The Academy supports sciences, languages and academic arts opening its new Hydra Park Campus in September 2016.

Rollem are a world leading print finishing machine design and manufacturing company based at Tankersley, Barnsley with 85% of their business being exported.  Rollem was established over 80 years ago, their team of skilled engineers, design, manufacture, install and train users on their systems.

“To maintain the skill level in the company and the wider engineering industry we are keen to support education programmes such as those at Chapeltown Academy as the STEM subjects are key to this business.  We work closely with a number of programmes promoting STEM in schools and are currently undertaking a KTP project with Sheffield Hallam University which is developing a new product for Rollem which will lead us to be able to expand into new markets.” said Stuart Murphy, Managing Director of Rollem.
